GREENSBORO, N.C. -The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell 79-74 Friday to the Cabrini Cavaliers in the first game of the 2015 Guilford College Invitational.
Greensboro opened the game with a 10-0 run.
Donavan Griffith started the run before
Simeon Howard connected on back-to-back treys.
Cabrini closed the half on a 7-0 run to go into the break leading 32-31.
Following the intermission, the Cavaliers pushed their advantage to 51-41 before the Pride used a 13-4 run to tie the game at 51.
Simeon Howard,
Hamilton Hawkins, and
Trevin Miller recorded multiple buckets during the run.
After tying the game, Greensboro took a 66-63 lead following a
Donavan Griffith layup, but Cabrini pulled away late for the victory.
"We are very disappointed with the result today as we felt good coming into the game," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "There is not time for moping around as we have to turn right back around and play a tough St. Mary's team tomorrow afternoon."
Griffith finished with a team-high 22 points, while
Simeon Howard and
Parris Scales also recorded double-digit points.
