GREENSBORO, N.C. –The Greensboro College men's basketball team (0-4) fell 81-63 Saturday to St. Mary's College of Maryland (2-2) 81-63 in the Pride's final game of the Guilford College Invitational.
Early in the first half, Greensboro trailed 11-6 but used an 11-2 run to gain their largest lead of the game at 17-13.
Trevin Miller started the run for Greensboro with his first three-pointer before
Lorenzo Marry capped off the spurt.
After Greensboro established the lead, the Seahawks rallied to take a 41-31 lead into the break.
In the second half, St. Mary's pulled away for the victory.
"I thought that we were competitive in the first half and showed a lot of energy after having a tough game yesterday," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "It was a little disappointing giving up 41 points in the first half, but going into the break down 10 points is not bad considering we struggled to score the ball.
"St. Mary's was the better team in the second half. We are excited for a home game on the 30
th, but we have to find out what our identity is over the next couple days of practice as we prepare for our home opener."
Simeon Howard had a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds, while
Torrence Outing recorded eight points.
Lorenzo Marry finished with seven points and three rebounds. Chris Corbin,
Donavan Griffith,
Parris Scales, and
Hamilton Hawkins also recorded three rebounds each.
Isaiah Martin recorded a game-high 25 points for St. Mary's.
After the game,
Donavan Griffith was named to the All-Tournament team.
