GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro College volleyball team held their annual Volley for a Cure match on Thursday night. The Pride welcomed the Pacers of William Peace to town where they fell by a 3-1 score.
The Pride took the opening set of the match 25-23 before dropping the next three sets by scores of 28-30, 20-25, and 19-25.
Meredith Summers recorded a team high 14 kills on the night while
Shayla Moss contributed 11 kills.
Brandy Johnson also hit the double digit mark in kills with ten.
Darrian Bolt once again led Greensboro in assists and
Tori Belcher recorded a team high 21 digs.
"Our youth is showing in different ways right now," stated Head Coach
Kaci Pike following the match. "Positively, we are learning to swing smarter and more aggressive. Moving forward, however, we have to step up the leadership in order to be successful."
The Volley For A Cure match was established in the 2014 season even though the Pride held a match every year prior to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness. The idea behind the Volley For A Cure is to bring attention to all forms of cancer rather than just focusing on one.
All proceeds collected by raffles and t-shirt sales will go to benefit cancer research.
The Pride (5-15, 2-8 USA South) will return to action on Saturday on the road at Mary Baldwin. Greensboro will take on the Lions of Piedmont College at 2:00 PM before squaring off with the host Squirrels of Mary Baldwin at 4:00 PM. For the latest on Greensboro College Volleyball, continue to follow
