GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team scored three goals in the second half to defeat Maryville College 4-3 Friday.
Maryville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before
Ryan Mule cut the deficit in half with his first goal of the season.
Later in the half, the Scots tallied one last goal taking a two-goal lead into the intermission period.
Carlos Barragan pulled Greensboro to within one goal early in the second half with a long free kick goal. Three minutes following Barragan's goal,
Craig Gage recorded the equalizer when the Scots keeper was unable to handle a shot off the foot of
Scott Fatyol.
As the game clock ticked below ten minutes to play,
Shaun Watt possessed a back heel pass from Barragan and beat the Maryville keeper to give Greensboro the one goal lead. The Pride defense then stood strong to complete the victory.
"It was an exciting game for the spectators with two good teams battling it out," Head Coach
Tony Falvino said. "Fortunately, we ended up on the right side of the result, and responded well after digging ourselves a hole. We now move our focus to tomorrow's game where we will honor our seniors."
The Pride (10-4-1, 7-0-1 USA South) will return to the field at 4 p.m. Saturday against Piedmont College. Prior to the game, Greensboro will honor ten seniors. For the latest on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
