Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten In USA South Play

FERRUM, Va. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team remained undefeated in USA South Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Pride defeated the Panthers of Ferrum College 3-2.

Craig Gage recorded his fourth goal of the season, less than a minute into the game, to put the Pride on top 1-0. Greensboro then took their narrow lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Panthers were able to strike two times to take a 2-1 lead.

With the Pride trailing 2-1, Shaun Watt recorded the first of his two goals of the day, off an assist from Robbie Barnes, to tie the game at 2-2, in the 83rd minute of play. Three minutes following the first goal by Watt, the same combination teamed up again to give the Pride the 3-2 victory.

"I am glad we got the result we wanted today in a tightly fought match," said Head Coach Tony Falvino. "The guys showed a lot of charater to fight back after digging themselves into a hole. We now push our focus to our game against Covenant on Monday."

Greensboro outshot Ferrum on the day by an 18-6 count. Craig Gage had a team-high six shots. Jamie Payamps picked up the win in goal after making three saves.

The Pride (8-4-1, 5-0-1 USA South) will return to action on Monday at 4 p.m. when they welcome Covenant College to Pride Field. For the latest on the Pride men's soccer team, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
