FERRUM, Va. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team remained undefeated in USA South Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Pride defeated the Panthers of Ferrum College 3-2.
Craig Gage recorded his fourth goal of the season, less than a minute into the game, to put the Pride on top 1-0. Greensboro then took their narrow lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Panthers were able to strike two times to take a 2-1 lead.
With the Pride trailing 2-1,
Shaun Watt recorded the first of his two goals of the day, off an assist from
Robbie Barnes, to tie the game at 2-2, in the 83
rd minute of play. Three minutes following the first goal by Watt, the same combination teamed up again to give the Pride the 3-2 victory.
"I am glad we got the result we wanted today in a tightly fought match," said Head Coach
Tony Falvino. "The guys showed a lot of charater to fight back after digging themselves into a hole. We now push our focus to our game against Covenant on Monday."
Greensboro outshot Ferrum on the day by an 18-6 count.
Craig Gage had a team-high six shots. Jamie Payamps picked up the win in goal after making three saves.
