GREENSBORO, NC—The Greensboro College Pride men's soccer team returned to USA South action on Sunday afternoon as they welcomed the Monarchs of Methodist University to town. The Pride was able to knock the Monarchs of the unbeaten ranks with a 1-0 victory.
The two teams played to a scoreless draw after one half of play, but it was Rene Mendoza who was able to find the game's only goal. Mendoza collected a ball just inside the 18 yard box from a feed by Shaun Watt, and was able to beat the Methodist keeper for the matches' only goal in the 82nd minute of play.
Greensboro College held a 12-10 advantage in the shot category with George Dimopoulos leading the way with four shots. Shaun Watt and Rene Mendoza each accounted for two shots.
Logan Rohde picked up the win in goal for the Pride while stopping all three shots that he faced in the game.
With the win, the Pride men move their overall record to 3-4 while evening up their conference mark at 1-1. Greensboro College will return home on Friday afternoon when they welcome the Vikings of Berry College to Pride Field. The first kick is set for 4:00 PM.
