Season Synopsis
2023: The Pride posted an overall record of 20-11, while going 14-4 in USA South Athletic Conference play. Following the regular season, Greensboro qualified as the #2 seed in the USA South Conference Tournament and advanced all the way to the final championship falling to Meredith College. Payton Shiflet was named USA South Player of the year and First Team All-Conference, while Morgan Mayfield was named USA South Rookie of the Year, Second Team All-Conference and to the All-Tournament team. Jaylyn Templeton was named Second Team All-Conference and All-Tournament team. Krista Brantley was named to the All-Tournament Team.
2022: The Pride posted an overall record of 20-13, while going 13-5 in USA South Athletic Conference play. Greensboro advanced to the semifinal of the USA South Conference Tournament where they fell to William Peace. Payton Shiflet was named USA South Rookie of the Year & First Team All-Conference. Jaylyn Templeton was named to the USA South All-Tournament Team.
2021: The Pride posted an overall record of 15-17, while going 7-11 in USA South Athletic Conference play.
2020: The Pride posted an overall record of 7-7, while going 4-3 in USA South Athletic Conference play. Following the regular season, Greensboro qualified as a #4 seed in the USA South East Divisional Tournament, but lost in the semifinals.. In addition, Sarah Oakes, Carly Uhlir and Hailey Stout were named to the All-East Division team.
2019: The Pride posted an overall record of 17-17, while going 8-8 in USA South Athletic Conference play. Following the regular season, Greensboro defeated Salem College, in five sets, in the first round of the conference tournament before falling in the quarterfinals. In addition, Sarah Egbers was named to the All-East Division team.
2018: The 2018 season marked the first season at the helm of the Pride for Troup after being named just the sixth coach in program history in July 2018. Troup's squad finished the season with an overall record of 4-23, while going 3-13 in USA South action. Following the season, Sarah Egbers was named to the All-East Division team.
Prior to Greensboro College
Troup came to the Pride following a three-year stint as the Head Volleyball Coach at USA South Athletic Conference member Salem College.
During his time at Salem, Troup helped guide the Spirits to the program's first winning season, while also setting a mark for the largest program turnaround of any NCAA Division III program from 2015-2017 by transitioning a 4-16 overall record to a 21-12 record in 2017.
While helping transition the Salem squad, Troup was credited with coaching six All-Conference performers, including the USA South's Rookie of the Year in 2017.
In addition to his coaching experience at Salem, Troup has also served as an Assistant Coach at Winston-Salem State University (2007-2009), while also making stops at R.J. Reynolds High School (2013-2014), Meadowlark Middle School (2012) and the Caldwell Academy (2011). Coach Troup also currently serves as the Co-Director and National Team Head Coach at Champion Volleyball Club, where he has served since 2011.
