Johnnie Richardson was added to the Greensboro College women’s basketball staff prior to the 2017-2018 season.

“We are very excited to have Johnnie joining our team as he brings experience and passion,” Tuggle said. “I truly believe he’s a great fit for our program.”

Richardson, a native of Greensboro, N.C., brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Pride.

Prior to joining the Greensboro College staff, Richardson served as the head boys basketball coach at Kernodle Middle School, while also serving as a head coach for the Lady Gaters AAU showcase team.

During his time at Kernodle, Richardson led his team to a conference tournament championship in 2016 before finishing as the runner-up in 2017.

Prior to his work with Kernodle and the Lady Gaters, Richardson served as an assistant coach at Greensboro Day School, while also serving as a head coach for the Greensboro Aggies and Team Phoenix AAU teams.

Additionally, Richardson led Team Phoenix to National AAU Championships in 2008 and 2009.

“It has always been a goal of mine to coach at the collegiate level,” Richardson said. “To be given an opportunity to do this at Greensboro College is both humbling and very much appreciated.

“I am truly honored to be a part of the Pride family and I am looking forward to helping continue the winning tradition Coach Tuggle has established.”
