Ty Shwallon enters his sixth season as the Offensive Line coach and fourth season as the Recruiting Coordinator for the Pride. In his first season with the Pride (Spring 2021), he mentored USA South All-Conference Offensive Lineman Chris Barlow and Ernest Bencomo in the Fall of 2022.
Shwallon joined the Pride coaching staff in 2020 after spending the last 4 seasons as a volunteer coach for the offensive line and assisted with strength and conditioning at Richlands High School in Richlands, NC. During that time, he helped the Wildcats reach the playoffs in 2018 & 2019, their first playoff appearance since 2010. In addition, Shwallon mentored five players that went to play at the college level.
Shwallon came to Guilford College in 2014. He was a four-year member on the offensive line for the Quakers (2014-2017). Shwallon started 26 games of his 34 games played over his last three seasons. During that time, Shwallon earned three All-ODAC honors, Tyrant Scouting Pre-Season All American in 2017, and helped lead the Quakers to a 9-1 record in 2015, which is the winningest team in program history. In 2016, he blocked for the ODAC’s most potent offensive attack as the Quakers had 4,764 total yards and a league-best 476.4 yards per game, blocked for De'Eric Bell’s school-record rushing performance against Methodist and helped Guilford post the second-highest team rushing yardage total (2,109) in school history. The offense also set standards for rushing touchdowns in a season (27) and rushing yards in a game (416). Shwallon blocked for the Quakers’ offense in 2017 that ranked fifth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) with 448.9 total offensive yards per game.
He graduated from Guilford in the spring of 2019 with a B.S in Sports Management, while minoring in Business. Shwallon played his high school football at Richlands High School in Richlands, NC.
He is a native of Richlands, NC, and his family currently resides in Richlands, NC.
