Joey Connors was added to the Greensboro College football staff prior to the start of the 2020 season to serve as the program’s defensive line coach.
Connors comes to the Pride from Sprayberry High School and the Velocity Football Academy. During his time with two programs, Connors worked with athletes from middle school age to college athletes, and even helped coach Sprayberry to the Georgia State playoffs for the first time in nine years.
Prior to this time with Sprayberry and Velocity, Connors spent time as an instructor with the Hoya Youth Football program and also served as an intern with the Orlando Apollos of the AAF.
Before joining the coaching ranks, Connors had an outstanding four-year playing career at the University of Central Florida where he was a four-year letter winner and was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll. In addition, Connors served as a team captain for the Knights perfect 12-0 season in 2017 before continuing that role in 2018.
Connors, a native of Atlanta, Ga., graduated from UCF with a B.S. in Exercise Science in 2017 before obtaining his M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2019.
