Assistant Coach Tom Castello joins Greensboro College Baseball for the 2023-24 school year. His duties include managing the pitching staff as well as the catchers.
Prior to GC, coach Castello was the Head Baseball Coach at Penn State - Wilkes-Barre, resurrecting a program that had canceled the three previous seasons due to COVID and resulted roster size issues, winning the team’s first DH in almost 4 years. Prior to PSWB, Castello was an Assistant Coach at fellow USA South member Methodist University, where he coached catchers and hitters, as well as leading practice for the developmental team and coaching first base on game day.Â
Before MU, Castello was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for Lenoir Community College in Kinston, N.C. Success came quickly in his first season at LCC, as the Lancers started 9-0 on the back of the pitching staff, as they had the top three pitchers in the conference in ERA through 25 games, finishing 20-19 after a 4-41 season the year prior. In his tenure at LCC, Castello also had two NJCAA National Pitchers of the Week, one in each of his first two seasons. He was also helped to move players on to play for teams at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels. Prior to Lenoir CC, Castello coached at the high school level in Wake County, NC. He has also coached summer baseball in the ONSL, among others, most recently as the Head Coach of the Lexington Flying Pigs in the summer of 2023.Â
“I could not be more thrilled at the opportunity to join Greensboro College baseball and Coach Fenisey’s staff. We have a lot to be excited about, and I cannot wait to get started. Go Pride!"
