Nick DeTringo

Nick DeTringo is in his third year at Greensboro College as the Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator. DeTringo is the Hitting and Infield coach as well as the 3rd base coach.

In his first year running the Offense for the Pride in 2024, they lead the Conference in BAVG, 3B’s, SLG, OBP, and OPS. The offense also set single season school records in BAVG, Runs, Hits, HR’s, RBI, TB, BB’s, and Sac Fly’s. Nationally the offense was Top-30 in 8 categories (SLG, Runs, OBP, BAVG, Hits, 2B’s, 3B’s, BB’s).

DeTringo previously worked at his alma mater, the University of Tampa, as an assistant baseball coach. In that position, he coached the Spartans to a Sunshine State Conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA South Region Finals. He coached an outfield Gold Glove Winner, Jordan Lala. 

With the Spartans in 2021-22, DeTringo was the outfield coach and assisted in hitting. He assisted in providing scouting reports and in-game coaching as his part of the coaching staff. In addition to his coaching duties, he assisted in the Spartan Baseball Camps. 
DeTringo also spent two years as an assistant coach at Tampa Preparatory School. He has also served as a travel ball coach, working with players from the 12U to 18U levels with Hit Factory and Empire Baseball. 

After college DeTringo signed a professional contract with The Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League where he earned Hitter of the Week.? 
A utility player at both St. Petersburg College and The University of Tampa, DeTringo reached the pinnacle of college sports with the 2019 National Championship at The University of Tampa. A member of the championships All-Tournament Team, a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference and Second Team All-Region selection, and earned Academic All-District honors. DeTringo had a career .321/.391/.507 with the Spartans and holds the single game record for stolen bases (5). 

Prior to attending The University Of Tampa, DeTringo graduated high school from Tampa Preparatory School where he lettered four years under head coach AJ Hendrix. DeTringo lead the baseball team to Regional Championship and played in the State Tournament. He received 3A All-State Team honors and 3A Academic All-State Team. He was named All-Hillsborough County all four years of high school and graduated as the school career hit leader (111).

DeTringo graduated from The University of Tampa with an Allied Health degree.
