Buena Vista, VA - Greensboro College Softball (22-14, 11-5) extended their win streak to eight games on Wednesday after a two game sweep of conference foe Southern Virginia (12-22, 7-9).
Game One:
Greensboro took game one 3-0 behind a complete game shutout by
Ella Ebert. Ebert would go all seven innings, giving up just three hits and striking out nine batters. Her nine punchouts are one behind her career high of ten set last season. Ebert wouldn't give up her first hit of the game until the sixth inning.Â
The first run didn't come until the sixth, when
Abbey Drake reached on an error that scored
Ella Ebert. In the seventh,
Jordyn Tong hit a pinch-hit two-run homer to extend the lead to 3-0.
At the plate,
Raven Taylor went 2-2 while the team totaled seven hits.
Kenly Brown added a double while
Olivia Hyatt walked twice.
Game Two:
It was a blowout victory in game two as the Pride earned a 10-0 win. The Pride busted out for five first inning runs.
Katherine Connell started the scoring with a two-run single, followed by a Jordyn tong RBI single. Tong later scored on an error, and then
Abbey Drake knocked in a run with a single.
Greensboro added two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to pull away. In the seventh, Tong would hit her second homer of the day, and later Ebert hit her first home run of the season. For Tong, she now has eight home runs on this year, which ranks third in the USA South.
Anna Frazier started in the circle and went 3.0 innings.
Kenly Brown got the win out of the bullpen, throwing 4.0 innings and striking out one. Brown, Connell, and Tong all had two hits and two RBI each.
Olivia Hyatt also added two RBI. As a team, Greensboro had three stolen bases.

- Greensboro is 15-1 in their last 16 games against SVU.

- Greensboro locked in the #4 seed in next week's conference tournament with their two wins on Wednesday.
