Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Softball (20-14, 9-5) hosted Salem College (6-28, 1-13) on Saturday for senior day and swept the doubleheader in dominating fashion.
Game One:
Greensboro took game one 9-1 in five innings. The Pride scored six runs in the second inning to get out to a 6-0 lead. The inning included a two-RBI triple by
Katherine Connell that scored three runs total thanks to an error. In the fifth,
Abbey Drake a walk-off double that cleared the bases and gave the Pride their 19th win of the season.
Drake would have two hits in this one with those three RBI.
Alexis Lynch had two hits with two RBI. The team totaled ten hits and just two strikeouts.
Raina Hampel pitched all five innings, striking out five and walking just one.
Game Two:
The bats stayed hot in game two, scoring fourteen runs. Two runs scoring in the first inning thanks to RBI singles from
Katherine Connell and
Jordyn Tong. The Pride scored four more in the second, an inning that included an RBI triple from
Erica Chaney.
In the fourth,
Mason Browning hit a pinch-hit RBI double to extend the lead to 9-0. Greensboro would total six runs in the inning, as they pulled away to a 14-0 shutout win.
Anna Frazier went 2-2 with three runs scored and two RBI.
Katherine Connell had two hits and three RBI, while the team totaled thirteen hits.
Nevaeh Buchanan got the win in the circle, going to 2-1 on the season. She gave up four hits and no runs in 3.0 innings.
Leah Leonard pitched the final two frames and had two strikeouts.Â
