Staunton, VA - Greensboro College Softball (18-14, 7-5) traveled to Mary Baldwin (7-24-1, 2-10) on Wednesday and swept the Fighting Squirrels in a two game set.
Game One:
Greensboro took game one 10-0. The Pride scored the first run of the game on an
Anna Frazier RBI double in the second. After a fifth inning
Erica Chaney RBI triple, Frazier came through again with a grand slam in the sixth to help blow the game open. They scored eight total runs in the sixth and cruised to victory.
Raina Hampel threw a complete game shutout, going 6.0 innings, giving up 2 hits and striking out 4. Her record is now 5-3. The offense totaled 17 hits with two doubles, a triple, and the Frazier grand slam.Â
Game Two:
The Pride scored three runs early, going up 3-0 in the first inning.
Paydon Reynolds hit an RBI single for the first run, and then
Erica Chaney drove in two runs on a two-RBI single. In the fourth, Greensboro scored four more runs to extend the lead to 7-0.
Mary Baldwin would only score once as Greensboro took game two 7-1.
Anna Frazier started and went 3.0 innings.
Nevaeh Buchanan got the win out of the bullpen, going 4.0 innings and giving up just 2 hits and totaling 3 strikeouts.Â
Ella Ebert went 3-4 with 2 RBI at the plate, while
Summer Sheek, Reynolds, and
Erica Chaney had 2 hits each.
Notes:
- Greensboro is 19-2 in their last 21 games against Mary Baldwin.
- The win is the first for Buchanan in her collegiate career.
