Clemmons, NC - Greensboro College Softball (16-14) took on Carolina University (12-24) on Monday afternoon and earned a sweep of the Bruins.
Game One:
It was all Greensboro in game one as they earned an 11-2 win in five innings. After the Bruins got the first run of the game in the first inning, Greensboro took a 2-1 lead in the second after an error and an RBI single by
Anna Frazier.
Three more runs scored in the third inning, as the Pride took a 5-1 lead. Then in the fifth, Greensboro busted out for six runs, an inning that included a three-run homer by
Jordyn Tong. Greensboro would get the final three outs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.Â
Raina Hampel earned the win in the circle, going 3.0 innings with two strikeouts.
Alexis Lynch had three hits while Frazier, Tong, and
Erica Chaney had two RBI each.
Game Two:
Greensboro earned a come-from-behind win in game two. The Bruins got out to a 5-1 advantage after three innings. In the fifth, Greensboro began their comeback with a three-run inning to make the score 5-4.Â
With two outs in the seventh,
Paydon Reynolds played the hero with an RBI single to tie the game 5-5. Then in extras, Greensboro scored four runs to pull ahead 9-5. The Bruins scored once in the bottom of the eighth, but it wouldn't be enough as the Pride completed the sweep.
Anna Frazier earned the win in the circle out of the bullpen, going 3.2 innings with three strikeouts.
Ella Ebert went 4-5 at the plate with three RBI while Reynolds went 3-5. Ebert, Reynolds, and
Nevaeh Buchanan all hit doubles.Â
Up Next:
Greensboro gets back into conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Mary Baldwin for a doubleheader at 2:00 pm.
