Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Softball (5-1) hosted Sweet Briar (2-2) on Wednesday at Barber Park and swept a doubleheader against the Vixens.
Game One:
Greensboro scored early, as
Jordyn Tong hit an RBI single in the first inning to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Then in the third,
Ella Ebert singled home a run, and later Tong singled home another run to put Greensboro ahead 3-0.
Sweet Briar scored 2 runs in the fifth inning to trim the score to 3-2. Freshman pitcher
Kenly Brown entered the game in the sixth inning and shut the door on the Vixens and earned her first career save.
Raina Hampel go the win in the circle, going 5.0 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs with 2 strikeouts. Tong went 2-2 with 2 RBI and a walk, while
Raven Taylor went 1-2 with 2 walks.Â
Game Two:
The bats came alive in the second game for Greensboro, scoring 5 runs. Tong again got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first inning to put the Pride ahead 1-0.
They then scored 3 runs in the second inning after a
Raven Taylor 2-RBI double and and
Erica Chaney RBI sacrifice bunt on a squeeze play.Â
The Vixens answered with 2 runs of their own in the third, but that would be all they would get until the seventh inning.Â
Katherine Connell gave the Pride an insurance run in the fifth with an RBI single to make the score 5-2.Â
Sweet Briar would get a run in the seventh inning, but that would be all as Greensboro completed the sweep.
Anna Frazier got the win out of the bullpen, going 3.2 innings with 4 strikeouts.
Nevaeh Buchanan earned her first career save.Â

- Both
Kenly Brown and
Nevaeh Buchanan earned their first career saves, with Buchanan's coming in her first career appearance.
- Frazier now has a 0.45 ERA in 15.2 innings pitched.
