Pride Battle But Fall to Tornados 85-61

Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Women's Basketball (9-14, 6-10) hosted Brevard College (19-4, 14-2) on Tuesday night inside Hanes Gym and were defeated 85-61.

The Pride were shorthanded in this one, but played strong in the first half. The Tornados led 22-16 after the first quarter, and Greensboro found themselves down by just 7 points with less than 2:00 left in the first half. Brevard would go on a 11-1 run to end the half, however, and went ahead 47-30.

Brevard would extend their lead throughout the third quarter, but the Pride would outscore Brevard 15-14 in the final period. Greensboro's defense held Brevard to 32% shooting from long range but would give up 44 points in the paint.

Taya Simpkins and Tatum Bradford each scored 15 points, while Simpkins also had 9 rebounds. Kensly Stewart scored 11 points while Briana Ruano had 7 rebounds.

Notes:
- Simpkins' 15 points are a new career high.
- Stewart is now 6th in program history for steals in a single season with 89.
