Greensboro, NC- As men's and women's soccer embark on their postseason journeys,
Jade Diane and
Alyssa Lane have been named this week's Greensboro College Athletes of the Week.
Diane notched the ninth goal of his season in Wednesday's regular-season finale against Methodist, putting the Pride on the board in a game they would ultimately lose 4-2. Then, in Saturday's first-round tilt at William Peace, Dine again put the Pride on the board, this time as the game-winning goal in a 3-0 Greensboro shutout. Diane also added an assist on
Gustav Ohman's first goal of the game moments later. Diane's goal against William Peace gave him 10 for the season, and he and Ohman become the first Pride duo to reach double-figures in goals for a season since Jordy Briceno (13), Carlos Barragan (11), and Darli Mihindou (10) in 2018.
Men's soccer travels to #2 seed Southern Virginia on Wednesday for a semi-final match up.
Lane was perfect once again last week, delivering clean sheets against William Peace and Meredith. In the regular season finale against the Pacers, Lane stopped the only shot she faced in a 5-0 trouncing. Then in Saturday's first round matchup against the Avenging Angels, Lane made six stops (including a huge punch-save in the second half) as the Pride secured a 2-0 win. That shutout marked the freshman's ninth clean sheet this year, tying Katie Allegro's record set in 2010. It also moved her into a fifth-place tie with Patty Raube (1994-97) for most career shutouts at Greensboro College.
The Pride hit the road on Wednesday as they battle #2 seed Brevard in the semi-final round.
