BREVARD, N.C. — Greensboro College women's soccer (5-3-4, 2-1-2) played Brevard College (8-1-3, 4-0-1) to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday. Greensboro put 8 of its 16 shots on goal, while Brevard finished with 17 shots and 4 on frame.
Cailey Petrauskas scored Greensboro's goal, finishing with two shots and one on frame. It was Petrauskas' first goal of the season.
Abigail Sanzotta led Greensboro with four shots and put two on goal.
Alyssa Lane played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.
Alex Dawson added two shots, both on goal.
Greensboro finished nearly even with Brevard in total shots while putting more attempts on frame with eight shots on goal to Brevard's four. Brevard's goalkeeper was credited with seven saves, compared with three for Lane, as Greensboro generated enough looks to test the keeper throughout the match. Petrauskas supplied Greensboro's goal with an unassisted finish that opened the scoring.
Petrauskas put Greensboro in front at 11:07, taking advantage after Brevard lost the ball and finishing into the bottom-right corner. Lane made two saves later in the first half as Greensboro kept Brevard off the board. Greensboro added late pressure, including
Trinity Robinson's saved shot in the final seconds, and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Brevard tied Greensboro at 1-1 in the 86th minute on Natalie DeBella's goal off Mikayla Rubin's assist. Earlier, Greensboro generated five shots and a corner through 60:57, with Dawson and
Claire Friedlander putting attempts on frame. Greensboro pushed again after the equalizer, earning an 88th-minute corner and getting two
Abigail Sanzotta shots before the match finished 1-1.
