Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Volleyball (6-2, 2-0) took care of business on Wednesday as they took down conference rival Methodist (5-8, 0-1) 3-1 to improve to 2-0 in conference play.
Both teams battled hard in the first set, and Greensboro looked as if they would take the opening set, as the took a late 24-21 lead. However, the Monarchs stormed back with 5 straight points to get the win, 26-24.
The Pride would turn things around after the first set, taking set number two by the score of 25-22. Greensboro only got stronger from there, winning the third set 25-17 and the final set 25-13.
Greensboro had a season high 12 blocks on the night.
Karla del Castillo led the team with blocks, while
Taylor Cotie and
Kelci Brooks had 3 each.
Payton Shiflet led the Pride with 18 kills. She currently leads the USA South in kills/set at 4.04.
Jaylyn Templeton led the team in assists with 40, while
Morgan Mayfield had 21 digs. Shiflet led the Pride in service aces with 4.
Greensboro will travel to Meredith on Saturday for a 1:00 pm USA South Conference match with the Avenging Angels.
