Greensboro Softball Season Comes to an End on Saturday

Rocky Mount, NC - Greensboro Softball took on NC Wesleyan on the final day of round one of the USA South Conference Tournament on Saturday and fell 3-2. With the loss, the Pride's season comes to an end.

Greensboro couldn't catch a break it seemed through the first five innings, as they hit multiple hard-hit balls right to Bishops' defenders. NC Wesleyan got on the scoreboard first in the in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Later, they scored two runs in the third inning to pull ahead 3-0.

Greensboro got a big two-run home run by Raven Taylor in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 3-2. Unfortunately, the Pride offense couldn't tack on anymore runs and the Bishops took home the win and will advance to the USA South Softball Championship Series next week.

Despite the loss, the Pride achieved many individual and team milestones and surpassed expectations. The team was picked sixth in the preseason polls, and ended the year with 30 wins, 13 of those in conference play. Senior outfielder Ivy Ray set multiple new program records, finishing her career as one of the most accomplished players in school history.

First year head coach Brianna Strickland led the team to a 30-win season, a mark that surpasses last year's 28-win campaign. The team had five All-Conference selections and had a top two offense in the USA South this season. The pitching staff finished third in the conference in ERA at a solid 3.44.

The program will look to build off their strong 2025 campaign and look to win a conference title in 2026.
