Greensboro, NC - It was another wild ending at Ted Leonard Park as
Jake Duffy hit a walk-off single to give the Pride a 10-9 come from behind win over Pfeiffer on Friday afternoon.
Greensboro got down 3-0 after the first inning as the Falcons jumped ahead early. The Pride put up a run in each of the second and third innings to draw closer at 3-2. After two more Falcons' runs in the fourth, Greensboro put up three runs in the fifth to even the score 5-5.
However, Pfeiffer struck right back with three runs in the sixth to retake the lead 8-5. The Pride offense, which has been stellar all season long, would erase the deficit once again with a four-run seventh inning that gave them their first lead of the game.Â
In the ninth, Pfeiffer's Hunter Huneycutt hit a solo homer on the first pitch of the inning to tie things again, this time 9-9. The tie wouldn't last long though, as Greensboro came up in the bottom of the inning, and with two outs, put a rally together and finished off the Falcons on a
Jake Duffy RBI single.Â
Duffy finished the game with three hits and capped it off with the walk-off hit. In total, the Pride had fourteen hits on the game and six walks.
Chris Le, along with Duffy, had three hits on the afternoon while
Louis Berini,
Mike Rinaldi, and
Rush Bowman each had two hits. Berini,
Evan Sykes, Bowman, and
Jaycob Caseres all had a double, while Le and Rinaldi each had a triple.Â
Isaiah Faudoa got the start on the mound and went six innings, giving up six earned runs.
Hunter Anderson pitched a key two innings out of the bullpen, and
Nick Neubauer got the win.
Games two and three of the series take place on Saturday, with game one beginning at 1:00 pm.Â
