Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Softball took on Pfeiffer at Barber Park on Sunday in the final regular season series of the season, and fell in both contests.
Game One: Pfeiffer 7, Greensboro 2
The Falcons broke through in the third inning when they took a 2-0 lead on the Pride. Greensboro came back with one run in the bottom half of the frame to cut the lead in half, 2-1. After both teams scored a run in the fourth, Pfeiffer broke the game open with a three run sixth and then added another run in the seventh.Â
Greensboro totaled 6 hits on the game, with 2 hits coming from
Sophie Conger. Conger and
Olivia Hyatt each had a stolen base.
Anna Frazier got the start in the circle and went 3.2 innings, while
Ella Ebert pitched the remaining 3.1 innings.
Game Two: Pfeiffer 9, Greensboro 4
The Pride offense was able to score 4 runs in game two, but the Falcons came from behind to earn the game two win. Greensboro scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning, when
Jordyn Tong and Syndey Harris each had an RBI single.
Pfeiffer scored four runs in the third inning to take a 4-2 advantage. Down 5-2, the Pride scored two runs of their own in the fifth to draw back within a run.
Unfortunately the Falcons scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull away and essentially put the game away. The Greensboro offense collected 8 hits in this one, with
Ivy Ray and Harris having two hits each.
Greensboro will now travel to Rocky Mount, NC for the USA South Conference Tournament beginning on Thursday. The Pride will play the #6 seed Southern Virginia Knights at 4:00 pm Thursday afternoon.
