Offense Shines in Pride's Sweep of Maryville

Greensboro, NC - Greensboro softball dominated their two games on Sunday against Maryville as they swept the Scots and extended their win streak to five games.

Game One: Greensboro 7, Maryville 3

Game one saw Anna Frazier start in the circle and throw three strong innings. She gave up two hits, one unearned run, and had one strikeout. The offense gave her four runs of support in the first inning as Greensboro jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one frame. The inning included an RBI triple by Ivy Ray and a squeeze bunt RBI single from Olivia Hyatt.

After Frazier went three innings it was Raina Hampel's turn in the circle, and she would go the rest of the way to get the win. Hampel gave up three hits and two earned runs. Meanwhile, the Pride offense scored three more runs in the fourth inning to go up 7-1. The Scots scored two more times in the game but that would be all as Greensboro took home the win.

Ivy Ray went 3-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Kathernine Connell had a 3-4 game with two RBI and two runs scored. Katie Allison also had two hits and two RBI. As a team Greensboro had eleven hits.

Game Two: Greensboro 11, Maryville 7

Game two saw another offensive outburst, this time scoring eleven runs. All eleven runs came in the first two innings as the Pride scored four in the first and seven in the second. Ella Ebert hit her first collegiate home run in the second inning and finished the game 1-4. 

Alexis Lynch had two hits for the game, including a double off the left field wall. Freshman Jordyn Tong had two hits and drove home two runs. 

Katherine Connell had three RBI on the game, which puts her at fifteen on the season. In the circle, Madison Guard got the win, her second of the year. She went four innings and gave up four runs. Ebert would come in and earn a three inning save, her third save of the season.

Greensboro will travel to Bridgewater, VA on Saturday to play Bridgewater College and Mary Washington in their next two contests.
