Bridgewater, VA - Greensboro softball played two games on Saturday, defeating Mary Washington 6-4 and falling to Bridgewater College 2-1.
Game One: Greensboro 6, Mary Washington 4
The Pride came from behind to win their game against Mary Washington after being down 3-0. The scoring for the Pride started in the fourth inning when
Olivia Hyatt doubled home
Ivy Ray. Greensboro then broke out for five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead.
In the fifth,
Raven Taylor reached on an error that scored
Katie Allison and
Sophie Conger, followed by an
Anna Frazier RBI groundout. Later, Taylor scored on a wild pitch and
Ivy Ray would also score on another wild pitch.Â
Frazier pitched all seven innings for the Pride, giving up four runs and just two hits. She also struck out two batters. The victory extended the Pride's win streak to six games.
Game Two: Bridgewater 2, Greensboro 1
Greensboro fell in game two against Bridgewater 2-1 in a well pitched game by both teams. The Pride got the first run of the game in the sixth inning on an RBI triple by
Ella Ebert.Â
Bridgewater came back in the bottom of the inning and scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead on a two out single. The Pride were unable to tie the game in the seventh and took their first loss since March 2nd.
Raina Hampel started in the circle and pitched outstanding, going 5.1 innings. She had two strikeouts and no walks.
Katherine Connell had a two hit game for the Pride, and
Jillian Vitamanti went 1-2 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Greensboro will host Guilford on March 19th for a doubleheader at Barber Park beginning at 3:00 pm.
