High Point, NC - The 2025 Triad Invite came to a close on Sunday as Greensboro baseball took home a win over Montclair State, 7-3.
Michael Richards was a big part of the victory, as he started on the mound and went six innings, giving up five hits and two runs to go along with three strikeouts.Â
Greensboro scored early as
Brody Gardner drove home
Chris Le in the first inning to make it 1-0. After two runs from the Hawks made it 2-1, the Pride tied the game in the fifth inning on a
Cameron Barefoot RBI single.
Greensboro then took the lead in the sixth with two more runs crossing the plate. In the bottom of the eighth, the Pride offense gave themselves some insurance by scoring three runs to go ahead 7-2.
Alex Vazquez singled home
Evan Sykes, Le hit an infield single that scored Vazquez, and then
Louis Berini singled home Barefoot.
In the ninth, the Hawks brought the tying run to the plate, but
Garrett Brust shut the door to earn his second save of the year.
Evan Sykes has the only multi-hit game for Greensboro, going 2-3 with two runs scored. The team had seven hits on the afternoon.
Greensboro will play again on Tuesday at Ted Leonard Park when they host Lynchburg at 3:00 pm.
