Greensboro, NC - Greensboro softball continued their strong start to 2025 by taking both games of a doubleheader against Mary Baldwin on Wednesday in their first USA South series of the season.
Game One: Greensboro 8, MBU 0
The Pride run-ruled the Fighting Squirrels in game one 8-0 thanks to strong pitching by
Raina Hampel and a big game from
Raven Taylor at the plate. Greensboro scored four runs in the second inning after a Taylor RBI triple followed by an
Alexis Lynch RBI triple and a two-RBI single from
Jillian Vitamanti.
The Pride scored two more in the third inning and one run in each of the next two innings to seal the win. The game was capped off by a
Sydney Harris pinch-hit RBI single in the fifth.Â
For the game, Taylor went 3-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Vitamanti collected two hits, while the team totaled eleven. In the circle,
Raina Hampel pitched a complete game shutout, going five innings while giving up just three hits and no runs. She also struck out four.
Game Two: Greensboro 3, MBU 2
It was a much closer contest in game two as the Pride took a 3-2 win.
Anna Frazier started in the circle and went 4.1 innings, giving up just one run. She also hit an RBI triple in the first inning to get the Pride on the board.
After Frazier it was
Madison Guard who came in and got her second save of the season. Guard went 2.2 innings, giving up two hits, one run, and striking out one.Â
Jillian Vitamanti had another two hit game, raising her batting average to .688 in eight games played. Frazier and
Ella Ebert also had two hits each.
Greensboro will host Meredith on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm for their next USA South Conference matchup.
