High Point, NC - In an all around team effort, Greensboro baseball finished off a series sweep of Mary Baldwin on Saturday by taking both games of a doubleheader.
Game One: Greensboro 9, MBU 4
Isaiah Faudoa started on the mound in game one on Saturday, pitching seven innings of shutout ball to improve to 4-0 on the season. He struck out seven hitters and gave up just two hits.
The offense got going early, scoring four runs in the first two innings. After a
Brody Gardner RBI groundout in the first, Berini and Gardner each drove in a run in the second followed by
Chris Le scoring on a wild pitch. In the fifth,
Rush Bowman launched a two-run homer to left field to extend the lead to 6-0.
The lead would grow to 8-0 in the seventh after an
Evan Sykes RBI single and a Bowman RBI single. The team totaled nine hits and four walks for the game.
Game Two: Greensboro 10, MBU 2
It was much of the same in game two as Greensboro took care of business to earn the series sweep.
Michael Richards earned the win on the mound after going six innings, giving up one hit, no runs, and eight strikeouts.
Chris Le had a four hit game with an RBI and three runs scored.
Rush Bowman had two more hits, raising his season batting average to a team leading .429. Bowman totaled eight hits in the three game series.
After their performances on Saturday, Faudoa and Richards sit third and fourth place respectively in ERA in the USA South. Bowman leads the conference with his .429 batting average while
Dominic Scavone sits second at .418.
Brody Gardner also has a twelve game hit streak after Saturday's games.
Greensboro will travel to Guilford on March 18th to take on the Quakers. First pitch is set for 2:00 pm.
