Three Pride Players Score Four Goals Each in Win Over Randolph

Greensboro, NC - Greensboro women's lacrosse hosted Randolph College on Saturday afternoon and earned a convincing 17-6 win in their home opener. Their 17 goals is the most scored in a game by the program since 2020.

The Pride got out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter thanks to goals by Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce, Brynly ManWaring, and Alexandra Carefoot. Regan Daily scored her first goal of the year in the second quarter to give Greensboro a 4-1 advantage. 

After two goals by the Wildcats, Greensboro scored seven straight goals to blow the game open, 11-3. Later in the second half, the Pride went on another 4-0 run to extend their lead to 15-4. Each team would score two more goals in the final quarter as the Pride wrapped up their first win of the season.

Espinosa-Ponce, Regan Dailey, and ManWaring all scored four goals each in the win. ManWaring also had three assists to go with her four goals. Dailey totaled two assists on the day while Espinosa-Ponce had one. 

Keira Fenyo had a big day as well, scoring three goals while Carefoot had two. Genesis Chinchilla, Madison Wildman, and Sydney Patton all had an assist. Espinosa-Ponce led the team with six ground balls on the afternoon while ManWaring had five. Espinosa-Ponce also had five caused turnovers and five draw controls. 

In goal, D'Kayla Thomasson got the win. She earned seven saves and gave up just three goals.

Afterwards, head coach Mallory Zelawski said of the team's performance, "I'm incredibly proud of the team's level of play today. We went out with high energy and intensity and were able to carry that through the entire game."

Greensboro will host Meredith College on March 5th on Pride Field for their next contest. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
