Lynchburg, VA - The Greensboro softball team swept a doubleheader against Randolph College on the road Saturday afternoon. The Pride took game one 10-0 followed by an 8-1 win.
Game One: Greensboro 10, Randolph 0
Game one saw a stellar performance from
Ella Ebert in the circle and at the plate. In the circle, Ebert went five innings with three strikeouts while allowing just three hits. At the plate, Ebert went 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.
The Pride got three runs in the first inning after an
Anna Frazier RBI double, an Ebert RBI double, and an
Olivia Hyatt RBI single. In the fourth, Greensboro tacked on another run on an
Ivy Ray RBI triple to extend the lead to 4-0.
The Pride scored three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to run-rule the Wildcats 10-0. At the plate,
Katherine Connell went 2-3 with an RBIÂ out of the cleanup spot while Jodyn Tong had two hits including an RBI double.
Raven Taylor also had a two-hit game.
Game Two: Greensboro 8, Randolph 1
It was
Raina Hampel's time to shine in the circle in game two as she earned the win by going six innings, giving up five hits and one run with four strikeouts. Her offense gave her plenty of run support to give the Pride a sweep of the Wildcats.
Greensboro got on the board in the first inning with two runs.
Jordyn Tong hit an RBI double to right field followed by an
Olivia Hyatt RBI double. With the score 2-1 in the fifth, the Pride scored two more thanks to an
Anna Frazier RBI groundout and an error that scored
Ivy Ray.
Four more runs came across in the seventh inning as Hyatt knocked in two runs with a single, followed by an error that scored Hyatt and a double steal that scored
Katie Allison.
Tong and Hyatt had two hits each on the game while the team totaled ten hits and five stolen bases.
The Pride will play again on Sunday with a doubleheader, this time against Lynchburg, beginning at 12:00 pm.
