Danville, VA - Greensboro men's wrestling competed in day one of the Region IV NCAA Regionals on the campus of Averett University on Friday.
Josh Wilson led the way for Greensboro, going 2-0 in the 141lb weight class. In his first match, Wilson defeated Chase Kyler from Thiel by Fall. In the quarterfinals, Wilson won by Fall over Mauricio Reyes of Averett. Wilson will now face Mark Samuel from Roanoke in the semifinals on Saturday.
Other notables from the day included
Ethan Kring going 2-1 in the 165lb class. After losing his first match of the day, Kring defeated Asher LeBeau from Wilmington by Major Decison (13-4). He then won by Decision over Jalen Cornelius from Shenandoah (5-4).
Adrian Soto-Perez also went 2-1, defeating Tyson Hoopes from Southern Virginia by Major Decision (12-2) and Tristan Craddock from Heidelberg by Fall. He lost his match against Jessie Orbin in a tiebreaker.
Isaiah Manning wrestled in the 197lb weight class and went 2-1. Manning won his matches over Robert Keener of Shenandoah and Aidan Belgiorno of Heidelberg, but lost to Gavin Layman of Ohio Northern.
