Baseball Falls in Midweek Matchup with Roanoke 7-6

Salem, VA - Greensboro baseball traveled to take on Roanoke on Wednesday night and played an exciting contest that saw the Pride fall late, 7-6.

The Maroons got out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning off starter Trey Wilson. The Greensboro offense put up three runs in the third to take their first lead, 3-2.

Roanoke got two runs right back in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead, as the back-and-forth affair was on. After a run in the bottom of the seventh gave Roanoke a 5-3 lead, Greensboro scored three runs in the top of the ninth to take their second lead of the game, 6-5.

Closer Stephen Dunlow came in to try and get the save for the Pride, but gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth as the Maroons walked-off Greensboro.

Despite the loss, Greensboro got solid performances out of their bullpen and lineup. Nick Stegura pitched 3.1 innings, giving up no hits and striking out three. Nick Neubauer also pitched a scoreless frame.

Catcher Myles Vacharasin continued his hot start at the plate, going 3-4. Chris Le and Brody Gardner had two hits each, while the offense drew eight walks on the day.

The Pride will play Albion College in their next contest on Friday on the campus of Piedmont University. First pitch is set for 4:00 pm.
