Cleveland, GA - Greensboro women's lacrosse opened the season against Truett McConnell and fell 19-7.
The Pride got on the board first when
Alexandra Carefoot scored her first goal of the 2025 campaign less than a minute into the game. The Bears would score the next two goals before
Brynly ManWaring scored her first collegiate goal.
Once again the Bears scored the next two goals, followed by a Pride goal by ManWaring again. Unfortunately for Greensboro, Truett McConnell went on a 4-0 run and scored five of the next six goals to extend their lead to 8-4.
The Bears later went on another 5-0 run between the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third to put the game out of reach. For the Pride, ManWaring was a big bright spot, scoring three goals in her Greensboro debut. Senior
Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce, who led the team in goals last season, also scored three goals.
Greensboro totaled four caused turnovers on the game and thirteen ground balls. They also won twelve draw controls. A career milestone was also reached, as goalie
Carly Walton surpassed the 200 career saves mark.
The Pride will host Randolph College on Saturday for their home opener. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
