Box Score Greensboro, NC - Despite a double-double from senior
Grant Thompson and 19 points from senior
Isaiah Pruett, Greensboro men's basketball couldn't dig out from an early 9-0 deficit and fell to Pfeiffer 63-50 on Senior Day.
Prior to the game, Pruett and Thompson were honored for their contributions to the Greensboro men's basketball program during their time wearing the green and white.Â
When the game started, the Falcons jumped out to an early 9-0 lead as the Pride struggled to get going offensively. After an early timeout, the Pride settled in and matched the Falcons shot-for-shot, trailing 33-23 at the break. In the second half, Greensboro cut the deficit to four points on two different occasions. Midway through the second half, a layup from
Patrick Malott cut Pfeiffer's lead to 50-46, but that was as close as the Pride would get, as Pfeiffer would close the game on a 13-4 run to seal the deal.
Pruett's 19 points led all scorers, while Thompson added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Pride. Greensboro struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 1-15 from three point range.Â
The Pride sit seventh in the USA South standings and trail the final postseason spot by a half game. Greensboro will take on Brevard on Tuesday night, while Methodist, whom Greensboro is chasing for the final tournament spot, faces North Carolina Wesleyan and William Peace next week.Â
Tuesday night's matchup against Brevard will be at 5:30 pm inside Hanes Gym.
