Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Women's Basketball (2-3, 0-1) hosted Pfeiffer University (3-2, 1-0) on Saturday in the first USA South Conference game of the season and fell 87-77.
The first quarter saw a combined 42 points scored with each team scoring 21. Pfeiffer shot 53% from the floor in the period while Greensboro shot 42%. The teams played close again in the second quarter, as the Falcons scored 21 more points and the Pride scored 19.Â
As the second half went on, Pfeiffer began to gain momentum. Greensboro would hang tough, but the Falcons pulled away later on in the fourth quarter to secure the win. They outscored Greensboro 22-16 in the final period.
Kensly Stewart scored a game-high 18 points while also dishing out 2 assists and collecting 3 rebounds.
Taya Simpkins scored 10 points with 5 assists and 4 rebounds, while
Jenx Ervin led the team in rebounds with 7.
The Pride shot 43% from the floor for the game, but shot just 56% from the free throw line. Greensboro also hit 7 three-pointers.Â
Greensboro will play again when they play cross-town rival Guilford at the First Horizon Coliseum on December 1st.
