Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Volleyball (24-2, 16-0) secured the USA South Conference Regular Season Championship on Saturday after defeating Meredith College (16-11, 9-7) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. They also defeated Averett (5-18, 2-9) 3-0 in a non-conference match.
The USA South Regular Season Championship is the first for the program since 2005, when they shared the regular season title with Christopher Newport. The win also secures the #1 overall seed in the USA South tournament that begins November 11th.
Greensboro vs Meredith
The Pride came out sharp against conference foe Meredith, taking the first set 25-16, the second set 25-14, and the third set 25-19. For the match, Greensboro had 47 kills, 7 blocks, and 57 digs.
Payton Shiflet led the team in kills with 18 while
Taylor Cotie had 11.
Jaylyn Templeton had 39 assists on the game, and
Morgan Mayfield totaled 13 digs.Â
Greensboro vs Averett
The Pride also swept Averett, taking the first set 25-12, the second 25-22, and the final set 25-16. Greensboro had 10 service aces in this one to go along with 33 kills.
Shiflet again led the team in kills with 11. Mayfield had 8 service aces on the match, a season high. She also had 13 digs.Â
Greensboro will play thier final regular season home game on Wednesday when they host Southern Virginia at 6:00 pm.
