Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro College Volleyball team (27-2) defeated Brevard (7-24) in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament on Tuesday night to advance to Thursday's semifinal round against Meredith College.
Greensboro controlled the match from the jump, as they took the first set 25-17. The Pride continued to roll in set number two, earning a 25-18 win. Then in the third set, Greensboro played their best set of the night as they finished the match with a 25-12 victory.
Taylor Cotie and
Payton Shiflet each had 10 kills on the night. Shiflet also had 10 digs, earning a double-double.
Jaylyn Templeton had a 32 assist performance while
Morgan Mayfield had 13 digs. As a team, Greensboro had a .286 hitting percentage and 9 service aces.Â
Greensboro will now host Meredith, the #4 seed in the tournament, inside Hanes Gym on Thursday night. Start time is set for 7:00 pm.
