Lush Lifts Pride With Late Goal over Warren Wilson

Asheville, NC - With less than seven minutes remaining against Warren Wilson, sophomore Abby Lush scored her first goal of 2025 to give the Greensboro College Women's Soccer team a 1-0 non-conference victory.

On a day where the Pride peppered the Owls with 24 shots (13 on goal), Lush's second career goal at the 83:39 mark broke through what had otherwise been a stellar performance by Owls' keeper Callie Aerni, who had turned aside shot after shot all afternoon.

For a team that had been struggling offensively, not in terms of shot volume but simply to find the back of the net, Lush knew how important her goal was. "I knew we needed the goal, so I applied what we did in practice into the game and just followed up the shot."

Griffin Horn saved both shots she faced in the first half, while Shyann Hansen was not challenged in the second half. Shae Brennan, Ashlie Linker, Ashley McElwain, and Alex Dawson led the Pride with three shots each.

The win bumps the Pride to a 6-4-2 record. Greensboro now returns home to take on Mary Baldwin on Tuesday, October 7th as they will look to rebound from a loss in their conference opener.
