Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Men's Soccer earned an important 3-1 win over SVU on Wednesday night to move into a potential conference tournament spot.
With the win, the Pride move into fifth place in the USA South Conference standings, passing SVU and Brevard. The team is now 2-2 in conference play.
Greensboro came out firing, scoring 2 goals in the first 4 mintues.
Axel Garcia-Avila scored the first goal of the night to put the Pride ahead 1-0.
Gustav Ohman then scored 2 mintues later off an assist from
Jalen King.
SVU took control later in the half and would score to get back within a goal before the half. Both teams played better defensively in half number two, but Greensboro scored a key insurance goal in the 56th minute when
Mika Rudel scored to make it 3-1.
SVU out-shot Greensboro 13-4, with all of Greensboro's shots being on goal. Goalkeeper
Alvaro Hermosa earned 5 saves on the night.
The Pride will travel to Methodist on Saturday for another key conference match.
