Brevard, NC -
Isaiah Pruett put up another strong performance on Wednesday night, scoring 34 points, but the Pride men's basketball team fell on the road to Brevard 106-72. Pruett's 34 point performance is his second highest scoring mark of the season, only behind his career high 39 point game against NC Wesleyan.
Unfortunately for Pruett and the rest of the Greensboro squad, the Tornados were on fire from behind the arc, hitting 15 three-point shots on the night. KK Horton led Brevard with 17 points to go along with 3 three-pointers.
The Tornados put up 49 first half points as the Pride tried to keep pace with the sharp-shooting Brevard offense. Greensboro scored 32 points in the half while shooting 48% from the field. Despite shooting even better and scoring more points in the second half, the Pride couldn't slow down Brevard. The Tornados shot 70% (24-34) in the second half and pulled away to a convincing victory.
DJ Jackson had 17 points on 7-11 shooting, while also collecting 7 rebounds.
Zephaniah Jones had 9 points, and
Griffin Powell scored 5. Greensboro scored 36 points in the paint, but gave up 48 points in the paint on the other end. The Pride shot 5-25 from long range but still shot 50% from the floor on the game.
Greensboro will play their next contest against William Peace inside Hanes Gym for Alumni Day on February 1st. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
