Rocky Mount, NC - The USA South Baseball Conference Tournament got underway on Thursday as the Greensboro Baseball team entered as the #4 seed in the tournament. The team defeated Southern Virginia in game one 14-2, but fell to NC Wesleyan in both games on Friday as they were eliminated from the tournament.
On Thursday, the Pride bats torched the Knights' pitching as they scored 14 runs. They scored 4 runs in the first three innings, including a
Nick Marshall home run.
Ian Bast was excellent on the mound, giving Greensboro 6.1 innings. Bast gave up 2 runs, both unearned, and struck out 6 hitters.
They later scored 4 runs in the sixth inning and 5 more in the seventh. Marshall hit a two RBI double followed by a
Louis Berini two RBI hit.

The Pride played tough against the #1 seed Battling Bishops on Friday but they couldn't score a win in either game. Game one ended 8-6 in favor of NC Wesleyan. The Pride were down 8-5 going into the ninth inning, and scored one run to make it 8-6. They had the bases loaded with two outs before a strikeout ended the game.
In game two NC Wesleyan took control early and they didn't let Greensboro back in the game. The final score was 7-3. Greensboro found themselves down 4-1 in the fourth inning before giving up two more runs to make the score 6-1. The offense could only collect seven hits and three runs for the game.
The Pride once again had a winning season in conference play and had one of the best offenses in the USA South. They also broke the program record for home runs this year. The team finishes the season 24-19 with a 14-8 record at home and 9-11 record on the road.Â
