Greensboro, NC - It was Opening Day at Barber Park as Greensboro Softball began their 2024 season with a double header with Bridgewater College. The Eagles took game one in 8 innings, 2-1. Greensboro would come back in game two to win 7-3.

Game One:

It was a pitcher's dual in game one as Lauren Engel and Bridgewater's Mackenzie Cauthorn performed up to expectations as each team's number one starter. In 8.0 innings, Engel gave up 6 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and struck out 4. Cauthorn also went 8.0 innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 run, and striking out 5.

In the top of the 8th, the Eagles' Caroline Malandra drove in the game winning run on an RBI single. Bridgewater had 6 total hits on the game. Greensboro's offense had 4 hits and drew 3 walks, but could only come up with the 1 run.

Game Two:

The Greensboro offense came to life in game two as they scored 7 runs. Kelsey Craven gave the Pride an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI ground out that brought home Madison Dillner. Anna Frazier drove home the second run on an RBI ground out later in the inning.

The Eagles came back with 2 runs in the second frame and 1 run in the third to take a 3-2 lead. However, Frazier would tie the game 3-3 on an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. Up 5-3 in the sixth, Frazier did even more damage with a two run homer to left field to put the game away. Frazier drove in 4 runs on the game and went 2-4.
