Pride Fall to Brevard in USA South Conference Match-Up Tuesday Night

Greensboro, N.C. – Greensboro women's basketball took on Brevard College in a USA South Conference match-up on Tuesday evening and fell 72-39. Fueled by a commanding first-half performance, Brevard led 40-12 at halftime and secured their win through relentless defensive pressure and balanced scoring.

The Tornadoes set the tone early with an 8-0 run, capitalizing on turnovers and limiting the Pride's offensive rhythm. Brevard forced 37 Greensboro turnovers, turning them into 34 points, which was a critical component in the victory.

Makenna Perkins spearheaded Brevard's attack, leading the team with 16 points and five rebounds. She was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Analee Morris contributed significantly off the bench, adding 14 points, while Josie Hester scored 10 points, all in the first half.

The Pride found some footing in the third quarter when they shifted from a zone defense to man-to-man, sparking energy on both ends of the court. Freshman standout Meah Brooks led Greensboro with 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Brooks, a two-time USA South Freshman of the Week, showed poise amidst Brevard's aggressive defense. Taya Phelps notched a season-high 10 points to go along with 5 rebounds.

Despite the adjustments, Greensboro couldn't recover from Brevard's dominant start. The Tornadoes' defense and fast-paced attack secured their decisive victory.

The Pride will look to bounce back when they take on Division I UNC Greensboro (UNCG) on December 31st inside Fleming Gymnasium in an exhibition game.
