LaGrange, GA - Greensboro football traveled to LaGrange College on Saturday in a USA South Conference game and were taken down 52-16. The 52 points is the most points given up by the Pride this season.
Both teams were scoreless after the first quarter, but the Panthers put up 28 points in the second quarter to run away early. Two quick rushing touchdowns early in the second quarter saw LaGrange take a 14-0 lead. Greensboro pulled within a score after a
Wes Kidd touchdown reception made the score 14-6.
However, Panthers' quarterback Henry Brodnax threw for two touchdowns before the half, and the Pride saw themselves down 28-6 at halftime. The third quarter was high scoring, as a combined 24 points were put on the board by both teams.
Josh Sims threw his second touchdown pass of the season to Kidd, and later
Thomas Chapman added a 46 yard field goal for the longest field goal of his young career.Â
LaGrange would score two touchdowns in the third quarter and 10 more points in the fourth to win the game 52-16. Sophomore quarterback
Josh Sims made his second start of the season and went 17-34 for 165 yards with 1 touchdown pass and 1 interception. Running back
Tareek Smith also threw for a touchdown, which was his first passing touchdown of his career.Â
Smith would carry the ball 24 times for 51 yards, with a longest run of 21 yards.
Mandre Ogletree led Greensboro in receiving with 5 catches for 68 yards, while
Wes Kidd caught two touchdown passes. Defensively,
JaJuan Givens made 7 tackles, as did
Taiseng Brown and
Max Steele. Steele currently ranks second all-time in career tackles in Pride football history with 355.
