Raleigh, NC - Coming off a huge win against Southern Virginia on Wednesday, the Greensboro women's soccer team continued their hot streak with a win over Meredith 3-1. This is the Pride's 4th straight win and improve to 5-2 in conference play.
After falling behind in the 9th minute, the Pride took control of the game with three goals all by freshmen.
Shae Brennan opened up the scoring for the Pride with a goal off of a penalty kick in the 24th minute. In the second half, the freshman duo of
Abby Lush and
Emily Walsh propelled the Pride with two goals.
Abby Lush scored in the 53rd minute and
Emily Walsh scored in the 86th minute. Both Lush and Walsh also picked up assists on the two second half goals.Â
The Pride managed 13 shots with 9 of them being on goal. Head coach
Mike Johnston said after the win, "Super proud of our group. To be able to get three points on the road in this environment against a very good team was huge. You have to be able to bring it every night in this league and we certainly earned a gritty win. Our forwards today were quality, and our finishes were clinical."
The Pride will travel to North Carolina Wesleyan a week from today at 2:00 pm as they look to continue their winning streak.
