Buena Vista, VA - Greensboro Women's Basketball (4-15, 4-8) traveled to Southern Virginia (15-4, 13-0) on Tuesday and fell 78-39.
Nataya Atwater scored a team high 13 points.
The Pride played tough in the first quarter, as the Knights led 20-13 after the first period. Southern Virginia came into the game leading the USA South Conference standings. The Knights shot 54% from the floor in the quarter while the Pride shot just 26%, but went 4-6 from the free throw line.
SVU created separation by outscoring Greensboro 18-8 in the second period. A big part of the Knights' offense in this one was their three point shooting. For the game they shot 8-19 from long range.Â
The Pride couldn't slow down SVU's offense in the second half as the Knights would pull away for their 15th win of the season. Ruth Kempter scored 13 points for SVU. Thirteen different players scored at least 2 points for the Knights.
For Greensboro,
Azuria Barrino scored 9 points and had 7 rebounds. Reigning USA South Rookie of the Week,
Kensie Harris, scored 8 points. The team shot 18% from the floor on the game and 18-26 from the free throw line.
The Pride will travel to Meredith College on Saturday in a match-up with the Avenging Angels. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
