Greebsboro, NC - It was the second game of a weekend double-header for Greensboro Women's Basketball (1-13, 1-6) as they were defeated by NC Wesleyan 71-59 on Sunday (7-7, 7-1).
Samiah Mitchell scored a career high 14 points for the Pride.
Mitchell led the Greensboro offense throughout the game, scoring inside with ease. She also had 4 rebounds on the contest.
Greensboro played the Bishops close throughout the game. NC Wesleyan came into the game 2nd place in the USA South Conference standings. With the win today, the Bishops are 7-1 in conference play.
Niether team could get going from behind the arc in the first half, but NC Wesleyan would hit 5 three pointers in the second half to pull away from the Pride. Areina Harris led the team with 17 points while going 3-7 from long range.
Nataya Atwater scored a career high 12 points on 4-11 shooting from the field.
Azuria Barrino chipped in with 10 points.
Greensboro won the turnover battle, as they had 13 turnovers compared to the Bishops' 16. A big part of the game was second chance points, as NC Wesleyan had 25 of them. Both teams scored most of their points in the paint, as the Pride scored 34 points in the paints while the Bishops scored 40. The game had 5 ties and 7 lead changes.
