ATLANTA, GA - The Greensboro College Women's Volleyball team began their 2023 campaign with a challenging match against Centre College at the Emory Invitation located in Atlanta, Georgia. Unfortunately, the Pride was unable to secure a victory in their season opener, falling to Centre College in 3 straight sets, with a final score of 0-3.
Despite the tough start, the Pride showcased their unwavering effort on the court, and Head Coach 
Kevin Troup is optimistic about their potential for the rest of the season.
The match saw standout performances from several Greensboro College players, demonstrating the team's resilience and potential to compete at a high level. 
Lauren Mantel's impressive 13 digs displayed her defensive prowess, while 
Krista Brantley, 
Kelci Brooks, and 
Payton Wright were the driving forces on offense, with 23, 22, and 19 total attacks respectively.
Krista Brantley's five kills led the team in this category, while 
Kelci Brooks, 
Payton Wright, and 
Abey Hancock each contributed four kills, to the teams total 23. The Pride showed their fighting spirit throughout the match, tallying a total of 103 attacks, highlighting their relentless pursuit of points.

Kevin Troup expressed his pride in the team's effort, saying, "While we didn't get the result we wanted today, I'm encouraged by the determination and teamwork our players displayed. We faced a strong opponent, and it's clear that we have the potential to grow and improve as the season unfolds."
