Greensboro, NC – The Greensboro College Softball team began their quest for a USA South Athletic Conference Championship as they hosted Methodist University on Thursday at Barber Park. This was the first game of a four-team double elimination series, and the Pride came in as the #2 seed. This game would be a pitching duel, and, in the end, Greensboro would stay in the winner's bracket by defeating the Monarchs by a final score of 2-0.
First Team All-Conference Selection Senior
Kassie Simmons (Gibsonville, NC) got the start on the mound and had full control of her pitches, to go along with her team providing strong defense. In seven innings she struck out eight batters, while only giving up two hits. In addition, Seniors
Kailey Walker (Eden, NC) and
Brooke Kinley (Lexington, NC) each went 2-3, with Kinley and Sophomore
M'Kenzie Davis (Greensboro, NC) scoring the only two runs of the game.
The Pride will face Mary Baldwin University on Friday, May 4
th at Penn-Wright Stadium at Barber Park. First pitch us scheduled for 2:00pm.
